The ADDITION consumes me,
And I am alone in a room full of chatter.
I refuse to "love" like her,
And I am myself, but never Me.
The rain cries on your shirt,
Yet you're sure the tears fall from Her!
(A feat of which
A blind man couldn't even dream!)
You come to me with beer-filled veins,
And assume that your veins pulse with love.
But how might you hold anything
(let alone me)
When they're shaking?
I've given my time for you;
This poem is to you dedicated.
I've given more than you know,
And, thus, owe you nothing
(Especially an explanation!
Don't let it consume you
As you consumed it.
The shaking! The shaking!
All back and forth.
Please trust me to hold you steady,
And My, My! Be quiet!
The chatter won't leave me alone.
"I want you to, too" is my (untrue?) response.
But, dearest My, I still don't owe you shit!
I go deeper
(Deeper than you ever did)
And consider the "my" that was never part of me,
But was always part of You.
But the chatter leaves!
And the silence comes
To leave me with my thoughts...
So, I rewind.
Because I can't think
After such a horrific word!
And I
never
listen
to
the
end.

I'll Leave
Literature
Let me be me.
I don't see why you're rejecting me,
Even God won't let me be me,
Hell will freeze over,
And heaven will burn to ashes by the time I grow a musache and beard,
Wouldn't it be weird,
Seeing me that way,
With a new spring in my step,
Man got SWAG!
Ha!
Weird word,
Let me be the bird,
'Cause I'm so fly I go high in the sky,
Like a tower looking down,
I may be 5'6,
And shit,
That ain't tall,
I may not join the NBA,
I may not be as good as B.O.B,
I may never rock the NYC,
But SHIT,
Let me be me.

Encounter
I came home after a long long time and in the hallway
I bumped into a seventeen year old girl.
I said ‘it’s me’ but she shook her head like
there was water in her ears and salt in her eyes.
I said ‘it’s okay’ but she looked at me blankly.
I said ‘it won’t kill you’ but she hurried past
and turned that dark corner.
In the room I grew up in
I opened a wardrobe and an old friend fell out,
the yearbook photos where we sat side by side
staring the camera down. Arrogant and eagle-eyed.
That year it rained and I wore his jacket
until it smelt like him and me and his hair
and my smile

This is actually inspired by one of my favorite songs... Anyone want to take a guess at what song? I dropped hints throughout. I listened to a song over and over today in my study hall class (trying to study, I swear), and inspiration struck!
